Electric hydrofoil or eFoil – what is it?

Imagine flying over the water with nothing but the sound of the breeze and the quiet hum of a sleek electric motor. Welcome to the thrilling world of electric hydrofoils, also known as eFoil. This cutting-edge technology is taking the world by storm, offering a thrilling, eco-friendly way to ride the water without waves. Thanks to Waydoo’s stabilization technology, riding is even easier and available in Estonia for the very first time!

But what exactly is an eFoil, how does it work and why is Waydoo’s stabilization technology a game-changer? Let’s take a look at everything you have to know about eFoils, from how they function to why ours are the smoothest and beginner-friendly.

What is an electric hydrofoil (efoil)?

l is a motorized surfing board with a submerged wing that lifts the board out of the water at speed, creating the sensation of flying. Unlike traditional surfing, that requires waves, an eFoil uses an electric motor and battery which allows the rider to enjoy a stable flight on lakes, rivers and the sea.

Why do Waydoo’s eFoils stand out?

We are proud to introduce Estonia and the Baltic’s first eFoil rental. All our eFoils have:

  • Advanced stabilization technology– smoother rides, easier balance and faster learning.
  • High-performance electric motor– powerful, yet quiet and eco-friendly.
  • Long-lasting battery– up to 120 minutes of ride time per charge.
  • Wireless remote– precise speed control for all skill levels.

How does it work?

At the heart of an eFoil is a waterproof lithium-ion battery, which fuels the submerged wing and propeller. The rider controls speed by a wireless handheld remote. The rider controls the speed using a wireless handheld remote. As speed increases, the hydrofoil lifts the board out of the water, offering a quiet, eco-friendly ride.

Key components of an eFoil:

  1. Board- Similar to a surfboard but designed for stability and buoyancy.
  2. Wing (hydrofoil)– A submerged wing that generates lift as speed increases.
  3. Electric motor & propeller– Powers the board.
  4. Lithium battery– Power supply, provides 90-120 minutes of ride time per charge.
  5. Wireless remote– Adjusts speed (usually 32-50 km/h).

Why are eFoils so popular?

eFoils have quickly gained popularity for several reasons:

  • No waves or wind needed: unlike traditional surfing or kiteboarding, eFoils work on calm water.
  • Low environmental impact: täielikult elektriline ja heitgaasi vaba. Low environmental impact: fully electric and emission-free.
  • Silent and smooth ride: a peaceful way to explore water.
  • Minimal learning curve:: easier to learn than surfing for many beginners.
